Remembering those who lost their lives fighting for our freedom

Take some time today, in between swimming, the BBQ, drinking, and spending time with friends and family, to remember the good people who gave their lives so that we could enjoy those things and so much more.

Lake Coeur d'Alene Sunset - Idaho

Four years ago today, we were in the middle of a couple of very nice days at a very nice RV and campground in Lake Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We decided to climb the hill to get a good view of the lake at sunset, before heading back to make a campfire and enjoy s'mores (hold the chocolate, please). Next step on that trip: Flathead Lake in Polson, Montana.

This one was take four years ago today, while we were working our way up the Oregon Coast. This is the Yachats State Recreation Area, which has a very nice path to walk along and view the beautiful, rugged coast.

Where the Surf Meets the Forest - Florence - Oregon

Here's one from our trip in 2012 that included the beautiful and scenic Oregon Coast. After viewing Crater Lake, we worked our way to the coast at Reedsport, and had a nice couple of days driving north up to Seaside (with a great overnight stay in Canon Beach). We had a lot of fog, unfortunately, but it was still a great drive, and we look forward to it again someday.

Flathead River at Kerr Dam - Polson - Montana

This is a shot of the Flathead River in Montana as it flows from Flathead Lake through the Kerr Dam and onward. We were in that area as we were on our way to Glacier National Park. Although it poured almost the entire couple of days we were there, we found plenty to do, including visiting the Dam and its beautiful surrounding area.

El Capitan - Yosemite National Park - California

We had a great time in Yosemite back in September, when we were able to take a vacation between my transition from Eventful to GoPro. Although we encountered a number of wildfires, we were in the valley at the right time of day to take in the beauty of the surrounding granite monoliths. We stopped for a bit to watch rock climbers on El Capitan using our binoculars. Wow, those people have got to be nutty. I shot this of El Capitan right before we left to head back to the campsite for our last night in the area.

Fern Canyon - Humboldt County - California

Here's one from our trip to Northern California in 2015. We had several recommendations to take the drive into Prarie Creek Redwoods State Park so that we could hike into Fern Canyon. The park is just a nature wonderland, but this hike was a ton of fun, and it was absolutely beautiful.

The Amphitheater at Sunset - Bryce Canyon National Park - Utah

I have, so many times, mentioned that Bryce Canyon is one of my favorite locations. It is an awesome place at sunrise, during the day, at sunset, and at night. In fact, it is one of the best locations in Northern America for stargazing. Trust me that you will not regret planning a trip to Bryce Canyon in your future.

Sunset at Pismo Beach Pier - Pismo Beach - California

Last year we went on a fantastic two week roadtrip with the trailer. One of the stops was Pismo Beach, a place in which Darcy and I had never visited. With a humongous beach that is dog-friendly, it's a great destination for a week or so. We've spent this past weekend thinking about when we can get back up there for vacation. Anybody up for Thanksgiving at the beach?
