Snowy Lake Tahoe - Nevada

Heading to Tahoe this weekend for some skiing, so I thought I'd post this one from December when we were up there. Looking forward to being back in this beautiful place, and can't wait to hit the slopes!

Fun Photo Friday: Bench on the Boardwalk - Mono Lake - California

A very fun thing to do when you're driving up near Mono Lake (north of Mammoth at Lee Vining, California), is to stop at the main picnic area and take a walk on the boardwalk. The trail takes you through some beautiful wildflowers, and also goes along the lake (so you can avoid getting your shoes muddy). There is this bench, as well, that you can sit and rest, observe the tufas, and watch the birds fly around and feast on the abundance of brine shrimp in the lake.

Twisty Trees - South Carlsbad State Beach Campground - Carlsbad - California

South Carlsbad State Beach Campground is a great place to camp for the weekend. I shot this while we were walking around checking out all the sites suitable for a trailer.

Looking down on Swamis from atop the Meditation Gardens - Encinitas - California

Swamis is an awesome beach, in Encinitas, CA. The Self-Realization Meditation Gardens is an awesome place to walk around, sit down and chill. Together, this is a great place to hang for a bit, and enjoy a sunset.

Hoonah Pier - Hoonah - Icy Point Strait - Alaska

Here's a cleaned up version of a shot I took on our Alaska trip in 2009. This is from the town of Hoonah, which is on an island making it accessible only by air or sea. At some point, it was added as a cruise ship stop. This quaint little fishing town was a very nice visit. It's small enough to walk the entire town (6.6 square miles), and it boasts the world's longest zipline (at least at the time) of being more than a mile long with a 1300 foot drop. We did not get a chance to do that, unfortunately, but we enjoyed our brief visit there.

Fun Photo Friday: Very Tall Sequoias - Humbolt Redwoods State Park - California

For Fun Photo Friday, I chose this one, taken on our road trip in September 2015 while we were up in Redwood National Park. These trees sit among the tallest trees in the world. A great place to drive through, there are a lot of places to just pull over and take in the beauty and the perspective of these magnificent Sequoias.

Lake Winnemucca Wildflowers - Carson Pass - California

As I usually do, I brought my camera on our hike to Lake Winnemucca last summer. We were amazed at the wildflowers surrounding the hike...absolutely beautiful. This will be a regular hiking spot for us, I'm sure, since it is a dog-friendly hiking location, and offers up some incredible views when you get up to the lakes.

Silver Strand State Beach - Coronado - California

We went camping with our friends, the Roloffs, at Silver Strand State Beach this past weekend, down in Coronado. I've been down there before, but I'd never camped there. Great location, right next to the beach. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the beach, but there are some big parking lots to let the dogs run around. We also took a nice long walk the dogs to the Loew's Coronado Resort.
